Are you testing for Covid?

The government is still passing out free at home Covid tests. Are you doing this testing? We have been doing so for most of this year...usually after we go to a casino, or a crowded store. I figure a few minutes to do a "nose swab" is a lot better than wondering if a sudden cough, etc., is a sign of bad news.

Have the tests but never have had to use one. I have not been sick with any kind of covid symptoms. I have been sick with my migraines but that is almost a daily thing. Not fun, but like so many, have learned how to cope with the pain.

A pity there weren't more people who think as you, instead of spreading the virus as thousands if not millions, are doing.

Are you testing for Covid?
No, I personally don't see the need to test randomly. I have had Covid, got the two Moderna vaccines plus the two boosters, the second of which was just last Tuesday. I'm not around anyone that is immunocompromised, but if I were I would wear a mask as a precaution.

I test when there’s a need. So does Ron. We both work and are around people on a daily basis, and our clients are considerate about letting us know if they’re symptomatic … of anything, not just Covid.

If I have a symptom that I can’t dismiss as allergies (I’m plagued by them) or sinus issues (Ron) then I’ll take a test so I don’t transmit anything. Mostly though it’s not necessary, we’re both very healthy and seldom come down with anything. Of all the tests I’ve taken none has ever returned a positive result. Same with Ron

I had Covid and got the full set of antibodies long before it became a marketing campaign. So not going to test for it ever. And no more flu shots for me. When God wants to take me, she will take me. Will not submit to corporate profit generated fear campaigns.

I have to at my work place. It wasn't required for a couple of weeks until an employee tested positive. Anyone can get tested at any time if they want to with a lab test or rapid. So I guess someone felt sick. Now it's back to weekly.

I wouldn't if I didn't have to since I wear a mask everywhere.

while it may help if someone has symptoms and wants a quick maybe......... since the accuracy of the home tests is not good .....

most of the people I know have NOT used the taxpayer funded (not free) tests they ordered.....
some feel safer knowing they have them on hand.

I am also still wearing a mask when out. I try to avoid crowds, wash my hands and face when I get home. I am surprised to see so many out and about with no mask. We are having another wave with this new variant. Most must not be worried about catching it and/or passing it on to others.

between the misleading media and the virus fatigue many people are just not being sensible .....
I personally have seen contradicting stories on new variants being so mild not a problem ... to deaths are creeping up....

the reporting has changed and the websites seem to be talking out of both sides of their mouth to not offend any viewpoint

IMO our communication on this whole thing has made me believe most is nothing but propaganda trying to fuel a narrative or explain away the false info we have been given all along.

I don't follow the big news people. I want to know what is happening in my community. I watch my local news, check the website of my county and get information from my son and DIL out in the workforce. They are both involved in jobs that have a lot of public exposure.

I have several home Covid test kits and used them for the first time last week. I had been in close contact with some people who had tested positive (a couple of them on their third go-around with the virus!) although they all were vaxxed and boosted

I had no symptoms and I tested negative twice. Just lucky, I guess.

Way to go Jeni! From the very beginning I have called it a SCAMDEMIC! Nothing more that a flu variant that will not end the world as we know it! If this "disease" is so deadly why hasn't the total death rate increased by the number of deaths attributed to the Chinese Virus. Look at year to year total deaths in the US and the world and you do not see significant increases in total deaths since 2019. If the Chinese Virus is killing millions, why don't we see it in the numbers.

Not a chance in this world. I have been on the road now for 41 days and I see very, very few people wearing masks. I feel fine so why should I be testing? Anyway, I haven't worn those awful looking diapers on my face since March 15 when my "government" said I no longer have to.

Let me put it this way. Should I get feeling sick, yes, I will get tested. I did get the flu last winter and tested myself for Covid but it came out negative. I see no reason to keep testing myself if I don't feel sick.

Oh, by the way! Don't forget to wash your hands after using the bathroom.

Yes I test today and I have covid. Have a bad head cold and coughing and no appetite. Very unusually for me as I haven't been this sick since I retired in June 2017. I talked to dr and he sent a nasal spray to my pharmacy so hopefully this will help and I should feel better in about 5 days from the onset (Mon. night). I don't have shortness of breath so I don't need a prescription for an antiviral med. No one else in my immediate family (hubby and 2 adult sons) are sick (yet). Keeping my fingers crossed.

We have the free kits and have used them twice. False negatives can be a problem, but better to be cautious and use them before we get together with friends in the high-risk group. Don't use our masks when outdoors (we avoid crowds anyway, being retired slugs, LOL) but wear them inside any stores/restaurants.

You can be infectious without any symptoms at all. We know at least 3 people in the very high risk group that cannot get vaxxed because their bodies will not form any antibodies. If they get sick the only thing that will help is the expensive Monoclonal Antibody shot.

And of course newborns up to 6 mos. are not eligible for vaccination, so they are also in the high risk group.

That is good to know. I still have two tests from before but didn't know it would be easy to get more if I use them up.

I have only tested twice, each time when I felt a little sick (most recently this past week when I had two days of sore throat, unproductive bit of cough, and an uncharacteristic headache. But the test was negative. By the third day I felt fine.)

My motivation for testing is that in case I get a positive result I would want to check in with a doctor as early as possible if any symptom starts appearing that would benefit from paxlovid. I've heard a few times that the earlier taken, the better results from anti-virals.

I do a test every time I feel a bit like I might be getting sick, or have been exposed. I know its not real accurate, just makes me feel a little better. My concern is mostly that I not expose others.

I ordered some of the free government tests, but they did not come. So I complained and they sent me about 50 or so. When they run out I will probably quit testing. No positives yet, no me, my wife or the grandkids. So either we are Covid free, or the tests don't work...
