Are You Watching Any Comedies?

I hadn’t watched comedies in a long time. Then I watched 2 Broke Girls which is quite risque` and to my surprise I liked it. Didn’t keep up with it though. I got into what I call quirky comedies and enjoyed No Tomorrow (on The CW), streamed People of Earth and a silly comedy...Marlon (Wayans). I had watched Mom and really liked it but got away from it for a couple of years. I have started watching again (all episodes are on Hulu). Mom is very funny, well written and even has some heartwarming, dramatic moments. It also features risque` humor but that seems to be the thing these days. Allison Jannay is great as the dysfunctional, morally bankrupt mother who moves in with her daughter, a divorced mother of two, well played by Anna Faris. Both are recovering alcoholics in AA.

What comedies are you watching?

One of my favourite all time comedies was "All In The Family". For the younger set here it was about the Bunker Family: Archie, the father, Edith, the mother, Gloria, the daughter & "Meathead" the son-in-law. They all lived together. I bought all 9 years in DVD & still have them. It was humour I could understand & appreciate. These days I don't watch comedies mainly because I don't like the laugh tracks & I don't like comedies that use a lot of bad language. Guess it's an age thing with me. I find that laugh tracks are way too loud & anyway, I don't need a track to tell me when to laugh. I'm not an idiot. If it's funny I will laugh or smerk. I don't like a track treating me like I was stupid & can't see the humour but they are there to tell me that this is funny & I should laugh. Actually, I like comedies; they beat the usual murder, murder, murder shops on some of the channels. Just wish I could find one. Would like a "senior" comedy show but don't know of any. The British have some but I believe I have seen those.

One eyed Diva: I like watching "Mom" too! I like that it's a little, as you say, "off-color"! But it's off air until September, isn't it?
