Are your banks closing?

Is this part of the reason why so many high street shops are closing down...we bank on-line so we shop on-line? As already stated most of our small local post offices have now closed. People used to call in, draw out their money and spend it in the local shops. Now we are forced to go to the main post office and the small shops have lost their trade.
I hate the way we are forced to do things, like using cards instead of cash. When I needed a new phone, I went into Carphone Warehouse, chose one which suited me and handed over cash. They insisted that I pay by card. I walked out and bought one on Amazon instead. Now that particular branch has closed down. Coincidence?

Ours is not closing, but it looks like I may need to start think about alternatives to our safe deposit box.

What are you folks doing to deal with this?
When the bank that has my SD box was closed, there was a notice on the door that said customers with boxes could call a number and set up an appointment to get into their SD boxes. I didn't do it because I didn't need to at the time. I have a fireproof box at home and I thought about closing my SD box but I do feel more secure having a box off site for certain items.

Didn't you need to use a card anyway to purchase it on Amazon?
