Are your standards slipping with age?

Just going longer between shaves. I kinda like that Don Johnson look.
As long as it doesn't become the Santa Claus look Falcon!;)
My standards of hygene and the house are just the same as they ever were [poor!] No, only joking,in fact a bit too much the other way really, I should relax more.

We redid both bathrooms. Installed water-saver shower heads and low flush toilets. Now, there's no excuse to not shower or flush. We bought new laundry applicances. The new washer is "high-efficiency". Uses much less water. Now, there's no excuse not to do smaller loads of laundry. We installed a new dishwasher... again, "high-efficiency". Of course, the most efficient dishwasher in our home is me!! Wife says all the changes we have made to appliances/fixtures has made a noticable difference in our water bill. Will the savings pay for those appliances/fixutres? Of course not. The washer and dishwasher were both replacements of units that had gone kapoot. The bath remodels were to update some 30+ year old facilities so we could actually enjoy them for the time we have left. So... shower, laundry, etc. we haven't "backed off" at all.
My wife was OCD about dust, etc. when we were married almost 50 years ago. After three children and a number of foster kids, we learned OCD just didn't work. She has become much more "relaxed" about making sure everything is dusted and the floors are able to be eaten off of. Still, we work together to keep things neat and clean. Neither want to be the one folks look at in the store because our odor gets to them before we do.

I just tell my girls that old people's eyes are so bad, we don't notice the cat hair collecting in the corners like we once did! And then when we happen to be wearing them, we're totally shocked and clean up promptly!

About personal hygiene, no, that hasn't changed. But I don't make a mad dash to do the dishes after each and every meal. I'm OK with having a few dishes in the sink (I live alone, so obviously not many dishes), and take care of dishes, countertops, etc. at my convenience. And I don't dust the furniture as often as I used to, I only do it when I see visible dust. So yes, there has been a slight slackening, but not that much.

I do agree with those who feel that with all our modern bathroom conveniences, there is no excuse for not bathing.

I'm the same. My body is always clean and sweet smelling but there may be dishes in the sink. No biggie.

Nothing changed here. I still shower and wash my hair everyday. Put on clean clothes, except I do re-use my jogging sweat pants only. Haircut and nails every 3 weeks. I can't do my nails. I cut them too close and then I bleed. Besides, I like the pretty lady that does my nails. She has 2 of her Grandchildren living with her because the father is in prison and Mom is in rehab somewhere and then she has to go to a halfway house for 6 months or longer. Some life that must be.

QuickSilver, I really laughed when you said things had to be your way!Me too! I thought I was the only one. I simply don't want to always follow along with the others anymore; actually, don't always play well with others (I CAN for short periods of time. As for hygiene, shower/oral care/attempt at hair is daily. Housekeeping is still decent, but I often don't feel compelled to do alot of house chores I really ought to do. Find myself going outside to play instead!
