Art From My Study

Trish, you are my muse of the moment.

I could look up "words which rhyme with..." on the internet, but I would mess with the creative flow. John Mayer, who got into using a typewriter to pen lyrics, said that if he used a computer and misspells a word, a squiggly red line appeared, and he felt obligated to go back and fix the word. By the time he corrected the word, he was out of the flow. With a typewriter, he wasn't as aware of any mistakes, and he'd keep on typing until he felt he had expressed himself.

In the same way, I shy away from the internet when I'm in a creative flow because I don't want to get out of my right brain and use my left brain to look something up.

This may sound sort of crass, but interrupting an artistic flow is like ceasing sex to answer the telephone.

Edit: I just noticed that I misspelled "rhymes" in the image. Oh well!
I think John Mayer was right. I imagine that if a writer were to use the internet to construct a poem or story, they would lose the essence of what they were writing. Anyway, it is more fun thinking of words yourself!:)
