'As bad as it gets': Why what hit Ottawa was worse than the ice storm or the tornadoes

While some do have generators getting gas to run them is a problem.
I have a natural gas powered backup generator, it is simpler no need for liquid fuel. Of course it would only work for people who have gas to their homes.

We once lost power in a Utah winter storm, without backup power. Very windy and cold, 10F. Our pipes froze and a lot of damage was done. We had natural gas heat, but without electricity to run the blowers it was useless. I've had the backup power ever since. Was without power once in Florida for 2 months, thanks to Hurricane Dennis. Freezing wasn't a problem, but sleeping at night without the AC was.

It took about 30 minutes for the staff at Canada's Wonderland to rescue the customers on ONE ride, with no injuries reported at all. The park has a lightning detection system that senses electrical disturbances within a 15 kilometer range of the facility, which allows the park to shut down rides . The park has a total of 18 roller coaster type rides. JimB.
