Matthew 18:1–25 The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant

I need to read this one practically a daily basis so that I can try to forgive others given how much I myself have been forgiven. I'm not very good at doing this, though; it's a constant process that I struggle with, a lot.

"The measure by which you measure will be measured out to you."

True. Forgiveness is not easy many times and we need reminders. BTW I personally find it far harder to forgive those who claim to be Christian while behaving devilishly, than those who are not claiming to be Christian and are behaving in that way. I assume that this is true for everyone else.

IMO, that terse forgiveness scripture was never meant to be universal especially regarding strangers but rather Jesus spoke regarding brothers, sisters, relatives, and acquaintances. Taken our of context, it allows extreme nonsense situations. And there is other scripture that tends to refute such.

Mathew 14:
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

As an extreme example, obviously if some barbarous murderous horde of slave traders attacked a village, raping and enslaving young women and murdering everyone else as was common during the Middle Ages in some regions like the Black Sea, there are no victims left able to forgive.

I think that was unintentionally partially my fault for initially having used the word Christian instead of believer.

That scripture always strengthened me in my resolve to remain on the narrow road to salvation despite the severe persecution I was suffering at certain times.
