An elected official in Ohio, fed up with people questioning his patriotism because he's Asian American, bared his chest during a recent town meeting to reveal scars from injuries he suffered while in the US Army.
Irwin in correct. Patriotism isn't waving the flag, and all that nonsense, but it's living our Constitutional principles. Unfortunately, there are some, who think only white, Protestant Christians, descended from the UK should be allowed to live in the US. It's like the American version of Hitter's "Aryan Race". No way that Asian man could have pure American 'Aryan" blood.Having served in the military isn't proof of patriotism. A lot of the insurrectionists had served in the military, as did Timothy McVeigh and some of the recent mass shooters.
Being patriotic means being loyal to our Constitution and our democracy. That is what it means to love America.
Absolutely. That being said, joining the military back-in-the-day meant answering the call. Today I think joining the military means getting a good job, with a lot of training / educational benefits.Having served in the military isn't proof of patriotism.
