Asparagus, do you like it?

A number of years ago we discovered a small patch of wild asparagus in our meadow. It yields enough for a number of meals in season and is excellent just lightly steamed.

We save some, including trimmings that might be a bit woody, and use it for making asparagus soup toward the end of the season. For soup, all but the tips are pureed anyway so a little woodiness doesn't make any difference at all.

Like everything she makes, my wife's asparagus soup is WONDERFUL! (y)

Yes I like it. My dog likes it too. We had some yesterday. It tastes kinda bland just steaming it but I can't add salt or butter. But it's supposed to be a natural diuretic and I need that now.

When I need to protect the foundation of the home, I eat it to extend my scent. Yes, that may sound disguising, but it keeps the varmints from burrowing under the house.

I love asparagus, especially when it is freshly picked and quickly cooked.
As a teen, I used to pick quite a bit of wild asparagus in Texas. More than once, I realized that someone was following me and trying to learn where I got it. When that happened, I always led them on a fruitless wild goose chase. I thought leading them astray was "big time fun."

I sprinkle a little bit of original Mrs.Dash on my asparagus. Maybe you can have that?

I grew up eating white asparagus. They were very tender. I can get those in a jar at my local supermarket, but they are very bland. I mostly eat the green ones now. I prefer the fresh ones and love them steamed, roasted, or raw. Any type of sauces will do!
