At Least 3 Killed In Washington State Mall. One Shooter Still On Loose.

Oy that the response will be to go out and get a bunch more guns...followed by the clowns saying "Well if everyone in the mall including sales people were armed they could have stopped it". All you can do is shake your head. RIP

What prompts a young man to enter a mall, walk up to the cosmetic department and start shooting people?
He does not appear to have been crazed, given the calm way he has escaped and he has not committed suicide.
It doesn't make any sense until we know his motive.

The no suicide after or shoot out/suicide by cop has me worried. And I'll make a leap based on limited information/a few photos-the suspect MIGHT not be Hispanic.

4 pictures in article. Also the walking in the mall without the rifle then coming back with one 10 minutes later would leave me to believe he had a car or accomplice waiting in the lot. Or he could've planted/hid the rifle earlier then retrieved prior to shooting.

And then you have all the clowns who say that malls should be gun-free zones. And then you have the reasonable people who say that a couple of armed guards and responsible conceal carry citizens might have prevented the tragedy, or at least lessened the amount left dead as a result.

The trouble with so-called gun free zones is that, as usual, only the good guys pay attention to the law. Clearly this shooter didn't care if it was a gun free zone! I personally feel that declaring a gun free zone is like putting out a welcome mat for crazies -- "come on in -- no significant resistance here!"

How tragic, very sorry to hear of this. My heart goes out to the families and all the employees at that mall. Just the trauma of witnessing something like that can affect many lives. Sure hope they find him REAL soon.

I beg to differ about gun free zones. I mean the fellow from the band in the Paris shootings got himself in trouble for such statements. He basically called Paris citizens a crude name for female cats because of strict gun laws. However another theory holds that if in fact members of the audience had been armed there might have been even more fatalities.

Not every gun owner is a skilled sharpshooter. Against major sized weapons is another issue. In complete chaos even someone who is a good shot might have difficulty taking down a gunman. Also shooting and perhaps missing pinpoints your location. The gunman might just open fire your direction when it might have been wiser to just make a run for it.

IMHO John Wayne mentality can be a dangerous way of thinking in some situations.

I agree Butterfly, no interruption of their plans that way.

Whether the victim is a group of innocents in a mall, an unarmed man pulled over for a traffic stop, a police officer senselessly killed, or a home owner killed by an intruder, my heart goes out to all the victim's families and I wish the deceased to rest peacefully.

They still haven't found the shooter. The officials are keeping mum on much of the information. I'll bet it was some love struck/jilted man/boy/killer. One reporter asked about one of the witness' saying the killer kept repeating a female's name over and over, it got shut down super fast. It's such a small community and so many photos have been released, someone has got to know who it is.

I disagree. Most of the most deadly rampage or mass shootings take place in gun free zones, if you look back -- schools, a church, nightclub, etc. One well placed round could have stopped them, but those shooters knew they'd face no serious opposition.

I don't care what some guy said in France -- maybe he got in trouble about his language, not his opinion, John Wayne doesn't have anything to do with it, and escaping usually isn't an option.

Was that mall a gun free zone? How would we know?
Washington State allows concealed and open carry of hand guns with a permit and open carry of a long gun without a CC permit.

Looks like it was a gun-free zone according to this info, click on red link and look at Cascade Mall

"In America the overwhelming majority of shopping malls prohibit firearms. This takes guns from the hands of good guys and leaves them defenseless.

We know it is naive and dangerous to assume that a “no guns allowed” policy will stop a determined killer from carrying out his plan. This is why we boycott every shopping mall with this policy.

To educate yourself on which malls don’t want you to be able to defend yourself, see the list below.
Below are the mall companies we have confirmed as having a policy to render customers defenseless. They make up the vast majority of American malls, BOYCOTT THESE MALLS:"

  1. CBL & Associates Properties
  2. Forest City Enterprises
  3. General Growth Properties
  4. Howard Hughes Corporation
  5. Macerich
  6. Simon Properties
