AT&T wants to drop land lines here.

Grampa Don

Yep, that's me
Got a notice from AT&T today that they are requesting the State allow them to drop land line support in our area. It doesn't bother me. I already had it disconnected. But, my wife would have been upset. She didn't like using the cell phone.

Do you suppose they will ever make a cell phone that looks and operates just like a land line phone? I wonder if it would sell well.

Internet comes into the home here branches to two business Servers hard wired offices, servers WIFI and also there is a Telephone line with it.
We don't use it, have 2 cellular. U Verse, tons of channels etc. Fiber optic to the entrance of the HOA then Ethernet into the house.

Just installed it here today.

It's a big box with a backup battery inside and two cellular antennas.

It connects using the AT&T mobile infrastructure, and has an Ethernet port to connect to your router's LAN-side hub as a backup if cell service goes down.

It has 8 jacks for telephone lines, though right now they only provision 1 line. You can plug your wireless home phone base into that, or one phone, or if you want a tech to come out they can disconnect your house wiring and plug it into this box so all of your phones already there can still use existing wall jacks.

I moved my copper landline phone number to it and nobody is the wiser.
