I know, I've literally just been looking at that Portable heat buddy thing.. and someone said while it's a good source of heat , it literally eats Gas cannisters.. one only lasts a couple of hours... so that doesn't seem to be any use for me either.. sadly

When we retired in 2001 and left CA, we took our 5th-wheel down to Brownsville, TX to stay for the winter. The following winter, we had snow on Christmas eve and it was so cold, it froze a lot of cacti and palm trees. Then we had hail the size of baseballs.

We moved to Victoria, TX in 2006 and bought a house there. I worked at a medical billing company and when the temps. would get to 50*, the girls were wearing coats and gloves and they'd bundle up like it was the arctic...haha. Being from MI originally, I use to laugh at them but after I got acclimated to TX heat and went back to PA to live, I wasn't laughing any more.

there's a huge difference between buying something for £50 or £60 once every couple of months and paying £300 per month every month just for heating..
