"Smishing" is a texting based Phishing scheme, here's a screenshot of the one I received:

Looks pretty "official" right? It's not. Disregard, delete, move on.

California DMV warns against text scam that cites fake code 15C-16.003

Yes this is tailored to each state and system. ........ Looks legit until you read and look closely. I have gotten texts and emails.

The email from them had a personal name and @yahoo or @gmail account..... email would be a .gov account
phone # have a country code....... if phone would be a area code used in that state not a foreign country code.

Red flags if you look but i am sure they got many takers.... it is sad so many do not take the time to look at the big picture before clicking on something or calling and giving payment info.

what I find odd is them claiming all that can be done is actually from different departments and not connected.... vehicle tabs in my state sre not even in same office as drivers license. etc.

that's going on in the St. Louis area too!

The point being ignore all of them.
EbAy wants to hire me. Haha

I actually got one of those fake texts claiming I had unpaid tolls—looked pretty convincing at first glance. The link had a legit-looking domain too. I’ve started telling friends to never click any text link related to tolls or deliveries. If in doubt, go straight to the official site or call the provider directly. These scams are getting sneakier by the day.

Two weeks ago I completely disabled the text message app. It's been very peaceful lately.
I can't do that as I get texts from clinic, physicians and staff for appointments and reminders.

I recently did get a text which I was puzzled because they basically were telling me how wonderful it was to meet me and that we should do it again. It had an interesting little box on the side with an arrow through it, which I realized was a link which I did not press and just simply blocked and deleted the message.

I'll never know who it was and frankly I don't really care because I don't believe it was meant for me, or it was a spamming scamming fishing text.

I told the young staff at my doctors office to only call my landline and they looked confused😆
