Attic or Cellar Lights

Maybe I would just.shoot it out for them depending on what kind of neighbors they were...

I forget to turn my basement lights off frequently, but sometimes I'm actually *in* the basement doing things at odd hours, because I don't have a fixed schedule.

Personally, I would not want someone to call me about a light being left on, but that's just me. I would feel like I was being watched all the time. I have a "thing" about that.:playful: The chances that something would be seriously wrong are so slim, I'd rather play the odds and risk dying in my basement. You only die once. Not worth it. :)

Now if it were something important, like leaving the water running outside, that would be a different thing. That can cause damage and is expensive with city water. I've had neighbors call me about that twice, and appreciated it.

I agree with Nancy, I wouldn't want someone coming to tell me I had a light on for a couple of days, that would be very annoying and invasive. Maybe I had a new kitten and I wanted it to find it way to the litter box in the basement, that would be one reason I'd keep the light on for as long as needed. When we were done housebreaking our pup, we still left some newspapers down in the kitchen in case he had to go, and we bought a little blue nightlight that runs cool and stays on 24/7, so he'd have a light to guide him into the kitchen. The papers are up and he's trained, but we decided to leave that light on anyway, so if my curtain was pulled open at all, a neighbor could see that light on. Sometimes when people go away they also leave lights on in different areas of the house to show activity.

Of course. They may not realize they left it on. I'd say something like, "When I was going out the other day I noticed your basement light on and it was still on tonight. I thought maybe you forgot to turn it off. I do that sometimes."
