"Okay, can somebody please get that spider off?"
On Thursday, the health minister of the neighboring state of Queensland was interrupted during a press conference by a huntsman spider scuttling on her foot. Huntsman spiders are harmless, but can grow to 12 centimeters (5 inches).
Not sure I would call any spider that size as simply "harmless". Maybe Australians are used to that type of thing.

Here on our farm especially during late spring and summer it is teaming with snakes and spiders. When I moved into the cottage there were about 20 Brown Snakes crawling all over the room! Some about 5' long. They are harmless , but they will bite. We have Copperheads and Black Widows and tons of Brown Recluses, which are all poisonous. We have learned to live with them by being alert, and wearing shoes inside and boots outside. If it isn't these guys it's Bedbugs, Flys, Bees, Wasps, wild cats and dogs, etc...and the occasional bear.
