Authorities say death at Apple headquarters was suicide

They say it was a 25 year old software engineer. Probably other issues in combination with a job he didn't like. Taking himself out at the workplace is a message of some kind. I'm surprised there are not more suicides on corporate property. They are some of the most depressing buildings and environments around.

I have a friend who works at Apple though, and she love, love, loves it! First off, they pick her up in a van every morning so she doesn`t have to deal with traffic. She lives quite a distance away-would be at least a 90 minute commute with traffic. She is always commenting on FB about different things the company does for them. I`m sure it depends on what your position is though-some are going to be much more stressful. Actually, now that I think about it,my step-granddaughter`s fiancé also works for Apple. He is apparently brilliant-I have not met him yet. He was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer (25 years old) and my daughter says Apple is stepping up to do everything they can to help him out. He has only worked for them for about six months.

If people really really love what they do the environment isn't as big a factor. But most people work to live not live to work. Sound's like the guy who took himself out might have had some buyer's remorse or why the heck did I take this job again?

I've had numerous jobs in various corporate headquarters and/or office buildings and they are flatout depressing, especially those in offices without windows. In today's day and age of metrics or set productivity requirements one minus well be working in a factory in the 1930s-it's production line work in many companies no matter how it's described.

Hope things work out well for the finance, you figure a company like Apple would have cadillac health care.

He is being treated at Stanford but that could be simply because they live close by. And I totally agree about working in a building with no windows-could never do it!

You basically posted what I was going to say.

The corporate environment is toxic. I can stay out of it for the most part and do my job. But on my Friday I had a horrible encounter with this corporate male RN. I was shaking inside so bad I called my Director of Nursing at home. I have a good relationship with her. My inner abuser alarm was off the charts with this guy.

It's the corporate way or the highway in most companies now a days. With multiple locations in big business there always seem to be several locations or positions where the person can hide/get away with what ever they want or conduct business anyway they want as long as certain numbers are produced. This incentivizes kissing the bosses butt and/or treating co workers & subordinates like crap-the ends justify the means.

That corporate RN seems like he knows what to feed his bosses. Sooner or later they'll get a bad batch or whiff of something they don't want and he'll be gone even if just transferred.
