Avast lawsuit results in "cash" for me.

Apparently, Avast, the antivirus app, was gathering and selling their unknowing users info with others and the black market. The feds sued them, and now I'm getting cash from the suit. Maybe I'll get just one limo, at first. But I want my personal jet plane right away. I really don't expect to get 1 cent, there's a herd of lawyers with their hands out before I get my cut.
I used to like Avast.

I've been in a few class actions and you never know which way it will go. One time it was a 12 cent check... tore it up instead of facing the embarrassment of showing up to a bank with it. The next one was for an eye shadow I used at the time... figured I'd fill it in because one of the payment options was a prepaid virtual MasterCard... opted for that and almost pitched a $146 MasterCard that ended up in my email trash box. Saw it in time, sent myself an Amazon gift card with it and it worked just fine.

I was a part of the Starkist class action suit. I think I got about $20. I still have the check. It's sitting in a book somewhere.

Years ago, it was a medical
procedure
that went wrong..
notified..
did not participate
as 'knew' medical profession 'protected'

I own the Empire State Building, well, 1 share of stock in it. I get my share of the "rent"- 4 cents/mo, which gets automatically deposited in my checking account. Hey, it's income!

For years if I participated in them, I usually would get less than a dollar. I always fill out the form because you never know and in the last four years, the amount of money I’ve gotten have been much higher. For instance, I joined the capital one class action lawsuit and received $750.

A year ago I was notified about the real estate lawsuit and during that time I sold a house and bought a condo. It always takes a few years for them to settle and send the money so you have to be patient. I usually actually forget about them. Then I’m surprised when I get a a check or gift card.

Many years ago I got US$400+ on a medical lawsuit. My doctor had moved on years before so I had no proof. If I’d that, it would have been a lot more.

$12 from something else once.

I think I may be part of a price fixing lawsuit on bread prices. Maybe I’ll get enough loonies to buy a new loaf.

There was a class action suit many years ago about a coffeemaker carafe with a handle that could break and dump hot java on ya.

I had that particular model so I got in the suit. I ended up getting a coupon for 50% off the purchase of a new carafe. You can bet the lawyers got their pound of flesh, though...

I always get the help of an expert when it comes to these things. A few years ago, a settlement came from a tech company over data privacy issues—this time it was part of the BetterHelp FTC Settlement. I had used their services during the timeframe, and with proper documentation, I was able to file and ended up receiving another $6,700

Having someone who understands the process has definitely made a difference now I pay a bit more attention to those random settlement emails and postcards. Sometimes they really do pay off.

I hate Avast! They are always sending me "pop-ups telling me that terrible things are going to happen to my files, banking and social media unless I send them money for an upgrade.

So, I ordered "McAfee" and it's coming to our local store tomorrow. I had McAfee for years. They too have "little tricks" but you know what they say:

"Better to have the devil you know then the devil you don't know."
