Awake to see the New Year?

Janet and I just got back from the best Italian place in town. My band used to play at the owner's old club. Great food, great atmosphere. Now, I've got the black-eyed peas on the boil, and the corn meal ready to be made into my corn and maple mini muffins.

I recently discovered the wonders of small champagne bottles at the mega liquor store in town, so we'll sample two Proseccos and a Champagne, at Midnight. Oh boy. Three sips, three different sparkling drinks!

****** Happy New Year, Y'all! ******

I had a lie down earlier, so I'm ready to see in the New Year :)

I rarely have a drink, but I've put some ice cubes in a wineglass to water down the vino .. a definite no-no for those connoisseurs out there, I'm sure.

An hour and a bit to go 🥳 🍷🍾

One of my childhood dreams was to be in Times Square for New Years Eve, 2000. Well in 2000, I fulfilled that childhood ambition. Me and 2 million of my best friends, welcomed in "2000"- the new Millennium.. "2020" just doesn't have the same cache. I was in bed and about to fall asleep, when the sounds of fireworks, set off by my neighbors, erupting at 12:00. I'm not sure when fireworks became a tradition on New Years eve. I think it was started by "No Fingers Johnny" in '56,
My neighbors can't keep from crashing into each other going same way on the Interstate, so, of course, handling weapons grade fireworks is no problem.
