This keeps me awake most nights . I have alot of lower back pain and it's most painful at night when I lay my head down to rest .I've tried different things but nothing seems to help ,any solution to help relieve some of this pain most welcome.Thank you,Leah

What are some of the things you have tried? Any medications at all?

Natural remedies like heat? Massage?
I have tried heat exercise and even got shots put in back for awhile to give me some relief but that was only temporary so gave up on that when our insurance changed and we could not afford to have them anymore..Leah

Back pain is usually caused by a vertebrae that has shifted, and is pinching a disc and/or nerve. Quite often a chiropractor or Osteopath can fix this. Getting a good X-ray or MRI exam will usually pinpoint the problem, and then treatment can begin. If left untreated, this usually gets worse, and eventually results in back surgery....or a continuing worsening of the pain.

I've had very good results from chiropractic for low back pain, and from acupuncture in a particularly bad spell of it.

Also, Leah, the pillow or pillows under the knees does help. Takes most of the strain off of your lower back when lying on your back.

Try sleeping with something under your knees, to raise your legs bit, like a huge pillow. That helps me. Good luck.
Chronic back pain for decades. About 15 years ago, read about sleeping with a pillow under my knees. Tried it. Now, no matter where I sleep, I have a pillow under my knees... if sleeping on my back... or between my knees if on my side. The "pillow trick" has most certainly helped provide many nights of good sleep that I would have missed if it was not there.

Also have a very good friend who just retired from owning a jewelry store for years. A few years ago, his back had almost put him out of the business. Standing on hard surfaced floors all those years had taken its toll. He had consulted with surgeons but did not feel ready to take the time of for surgery and recovery. Happened on an article about the Laser Spine Institute. Thought he would at least go for a consultation. He and his wife drove to Tulsa on a Monday morning for an afternoon appointment. Stayed the night and had the laser surgery on Tuesday morning. Released within hours of the surgery. They remained in the hotel room overnight on Tuesday and drove home Wednesday morning. Zero pain from then on!!!!
