Back to work? Am I crazy?

Welcome to the forum. It's natural after a period of time to want to return to work after retirement. I took retirement at 62, 5 years ago.. and now I'd like to return to work, part-time anyway. I've done everything I wanted to do in retirement, so now I'd like to go back to keep my mental capacities from failing, and to earn a few shillings more....also for the company

I officially retired in 2015, but in 2019 I was contacted by a former client who wanted me to start doing on line repo investigations to find vehicles that were more than 60 days in arrears. I made a deal that I would only do the computer skip tracing , and one of the employees of the car leasing company would do the actual leg work, and towing work. I am happy with the money, and I don't have to leave my house, as I did in the past. A couple of hours a day, work at my own pace. Once a vehicle has been recovered, I send an invoice, and get paid the next day by electronic transfer into my business bank account. It helps to cover the vet bills for Squeeky the five thousand dollar cat, and yearly vacations to Exuma in The Bahamas. JimB.

I have been retired for 13 years and I have absolutely no desire to work, either full time or part time. Especially since by the time they take out Federal and state taxes, plus FICA and SDI, I am working for 50 cents on the dollar.

Hi everyone - I retired in 2020 and although I do not want to go back to what I was doing, I keep thinking about going back to work - I must be crazy.
I think that's pretty common, people's working years become a part of their psyche, and some end up missing that part of themselves.

I retired in 2012 after 26 years, took a part time job...then a full time job 3 years later. That worked out good for timing, I worked the full time job until I was eligible for S.S., then took the leap into the unknown and haven't regretted it.
For the record- I still dream about work, now that's crazy. 🤔

I tried a couple of part-time jobs after retirement. One was at the local school district as a teacher assistant (I didn't have tp teach) the other was as a caregover for seniors. I liked them both and met lots of people. I got tired of both jobs and volunteered in a thrift store for a couple of years, which was fun until Covid became a concern.

There's plenty of part time jobs now as well as volunteer jobs, but I have no energy to spare.
