Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Sandwiches 🥰

Local tomatoes won’t be ready for a week or two. I bought the bacon that was on sale for $3, the name brand stuff was $7 for 375G. For reference , a pound is 454 g. I wonder what the tomatoes will cost.

I once visited a cafe in Alaska where they used huge slices of homemade bread and four pounds of bacon on their sandwiches. Took two of us to eat one sandwich.

It’s that time of year for a fresh, right off the vine tomato sandwich. I have enjoyed since I was probably two or three.

The things that can ruin a BLT is stale bread, raw bacon, over-under ripe tomatoes, or wilted lettuce ... and maybe mayonnaise well past its date of use.

Denmark makes something called "flæsk sandwich". It is similar to a BLT but the pork (flæsk) is thick and the bread is rather like a baguette. Scrumptious, but not as good as an American BLT!

Love tomato sandwiches with Hellmans mayo. Have trouble finding home grown maters unless I visit sis in La, Right now the campari ones come very close to homegrown. So until I can get there for a visit I will buy the campari ones for now.

Just a good old Jersey tomato on toast with Hellman's mayo and salt and pepper. Beats a steak anyday.
