The attached video is from where I live, I didn't take it.

It seems to be full of, either, silly or desperate people
who should know better, wind is more powerful than
other kinds of weather, you can't see it unless something
is flying through the air.

@Mike Nice to see the Croydon trams in that video :)

I think we are not used to "real" weather so, when the weatherman warns we are going to have high winds, we think "I'd better wear my hat"

(For anyone outside the UK who likely won't know, Michael Fish was the weatherman who assured us there was not a hurricane on the way .... actually there was and he never lived it down
:ROFLMAO:)

I have been watching the floods in the UK, by what I am picking up it is a red letter day if the sun shines, including Summer how true is that?

not true....and certainly not true here in the South. For example last summer we had temps over 80 deg for months without a sign of any rain at all..

the North and west of England and the North of the UK (Scotland) has much more rain, and unstable weather patterns, and colder too...

Our weather is so changeable , not like times of old when summer started end of October thru till end February, with high temps throughout. This February has been the wettest on record and I would say the coolest.

I believe it's changed worldwide in the last couple of years. Places which are not suually hot are getting very hot summers, places are being flooded which usually don't see rain.. storms are happening in unexpected places.. this last week the Uk has seen 3 separate damaging storms..

Those high rises, are they offices or flats? I was blown away to see what Croydon looks like now.

Those high rises that you can see in the first frames Robin
are all flats, there are offices being built across the railway
lines from those one, but there are many more being built
all around the centre, that are flats.

You should have a look via, Google Maps, take the video
tour.````
Are you a Londoner or were you visiting Croydon?
I suppose that I am a Londoner, Trish, I have lived here for
30+ years, but the clue is in my "Signature", "A Scot Living
in Croydon", so I am Scottish by birth, but I have travelled
the World during my working life, I was in Croydon when I
reached retirement age, but I don't suppose that I could
suffer, Scottish Winter weather, any more, I have been away
too long.

@Mike I have never been to Croydon although, I have heard about the trams. I think 30+ years qualifies you as a Londoner :)

But I have great memories. Getting rid of some books I came across "Rockin and around Croydon" reading this bought back so many happy memories, I'd forgotten just how many super stars I'd seen in their hey day. Croydon then looked nothing like it does today , but the music went on.

What an eye opener, there seems to be a lot of crime and the buildings are getting higher. I wonder if there are people in Croydon who have lived there all their lives?
There are lots of people who were born her and still
live in the town, I would think that they are outnumbered
by immigrant from all over the world.

Many famous entertainers went to school here, there is one
called the Brit School, I think that it is a finishing school for
singers, the most famous one who attended it is Adele.

First time that I have ever heard of the Brit school, when did it open?

Yep, it looks as though it is and it is the southern most district of Greater London, quote:

"Croydon is a large town in South London, England that gives its name to the London Borough of Croydon. It is one of the largest commercial districts in Greater London, with an extensive shopping district and night-time economy".
