BBQ Season

Spent the last three hours putting together a new BBQ and at the end, didn't have any left over parts! If the weather EVER clears up, I'm hoping to do some good BBQing (is that a word????) tomorrow and Sunday.

Anyone out there have some good BBQ recipes to share?

Hubby makes some good tender racks of pork ribs on the BBQ. We just have a simple charcoal grill, and it works fine for us. He rubs the ribs down with sea salt, and covers/marinates them in Kraft BBQ sauce, either original or spicy mix. That's kept for a full day before in the refrigerator. Then he uses plenty of coals, stacks them high in a pointed mound, and waits until they are half grey in color. Then he spreads them level, waits a few minutes, and puts on the ribs. He braises the outside nice and brown on both sides, then closes the hood to continue the slow cooking. They always come out awesome. No particular recipe, but he just watches how they're doing and goes from there.

Kudos for putting that grill together so well TICA! We BBQ even in winter when it's snowing, because we put the grill on the covered porch.

Nothing wrong with being mellow when preparing a special barby! :drinking:

Used to BBQ a lot but haven't done much in years. My surfing buddy and his wife and mine and our kids used to walk down to the beach and cook. Then, we would expand the fire and enjoy a nice night by the sea.

Just had a guy come in for propane yesterday and was in a big hurry for a refill. I asked him why the rush and he said he has a lot of chicken cooking and ran out of gas. I told him a spare tank can be your best friend. And next time, if he wants my excellent service, bring me some chicken. We both got a chuckle out of this. :sentimental:

Today, absolutely beautiful out there. Had a busy day at the propane shack as everyone was wanting to BBQ. First decent day that we have had. I really enjoy working there, 3 days a week, because I meet so many fine folks from all over the area. Today's topic, can't get tomato plants planted as there is too much water in the gardens.

Anyone remember Victory gardens during WW2? The gov't encouraged people to plant gardens so more food would be able to go to our troops. I can remember collecting milkweed pods as they used the silky stuff for life vests.

Hank Hill. King of the BBQ . . .
