Becoming a slug in old age

Not at all. Nothing wrong with organization. ;)
Absolutely! Organization of where we put stuff, and how we accomplish tasks makes finding what you want or need in timely manner and getting things done much easier.

Habit has a bad rep. People tend to think of the bad habits that can derail our lives. But with a modicum of thought one can develop good habits that facilitate whatever way you need or want to live.

It feels like I spent most of my live "booted and suited". I wore a suit most every day at some point, nicely pressed shirts, a tie, leather shoes. Hair was in place.

Moving into a retirement type situation it's quite a shock, isn't it? Suddenly, those suits are only good for funerals (and then only the black ones). I've not worn a tie other than attending the wedding of a friend.

I do feel strange some times in shorts and the like. But my life conditioned me into a certain way of presenting, and most of it isn't important now. I mean, I have time to play with my dog now, and walk him more. But I don't need suits for that.........

Is the British Sitcom: "Keeping Up Appearances," screened in your part of the world? If not, look up Hyacinth Bucket on Youtube.
The lady is a wonderful first class snob. She insists that her name is pronounced Bouquet, the letter T being silent.

My wife was once welcomed into our Waitrose supermarket by a lady manager with the remark: "You always look so impeccably groomed." Before she could say anything else, my wife put her hand on the manager's forearm and in her best, faux, Hyacinth Bucket accent, said: "Dahling, one has standards, you know."
My mother loved that show! It was shown in the states. I watched it a few times and it was funny!

I wore a lab coat with nice slacks and tops. As I got closer to retirement I purchased more casual things that I could wear when I stopped working. An ironed tee with a nice necklace and more casual slacks that I'm able to wear now.
I do still wear some makeup and wear my better clothes when I go out, even if it's errands.

I attended a funeral yesterday afternoon. I only have one suit, and it's almost out of fashion. So, I wore a dress shirt, dress slacks, and a sport coat I only bought last year. I have stopped wearing neckties. Other than the funeral home staff, I was the only one dressed that way. Some were in jeans; some wore shorts and flip flops. If they won't dress up even a little for a funeral, I don't suppose they will for anything.

I attended a dinner honoring some former coworkers a few weeks ago. I was surprised to see so many wearing shorts, t-shirts and jeans (it was mostly the men). I wore casual slacks and a button down shirt. I felt anything less was disrespectful to the people being honored.

Otherwise, I usually wear synthetic workout clothes most days since that is how I start the morning. Or carhartts, boots, and a long sleeve pullover if motorcycling. I don’t wear blue jeans - don’t like how they look on me.

I have and still wear the same clothes here in tiny town, that I did in the big city in Texas. Jeans, tee shirt or blouse, athletic shoes. At home yoga pants tee shirt, sandals. No bra at home... if we are going to doctor, grocery store or someplace else...very light make up...but do add me eye brows. May not be fashionable but clean and I smell good..lightly;)

@Ronni when you use the words —“hot right now—“. You are being too kind to our weather.

I live a good hour southeast of you and that is certainly not the phrase I would use lol lol

Since I have horses, my favorite phrase is that it is “bucking hot” 🤠.

If I could conjugate bucking hot, I would’ve done that yesterday morning when I was at the barn at 6:30 to feed the horses and do some serious cleaning under the overhang. My loaner horse pulls his hay out of the barn into the area under the overhang, which makes it difficult to hose them down in this beastly hot weather. I let cleaning that go to the point that it took me three hours yesterday morning to do what should’ve been 90 minutes worth of work. I don’t get around too good anymore so I was happy that I got back up to the house drenched in sweat by 9:45 AM right before the sun came through the clouds.

This time of year I dress according to the weather, I don’t care what I look like lol lol I do have pedal pushers (who remembers that phrase) that I will wear to town because my cotton barn shorts really are not appropriate for what the rest of the world needs to see😳😳
