I don't know about you, but this is good news to me. During our younger years, when we'd buy a new home we would spend a ton there buying bathroom accessories. I bought the king sized scrolled iron bed we still have after 20 years ago at BB&B. I've bought a number of comforter/sheet sets there. Even if I'm buying something as minor as a shower caddy, I would rather check it out in person than buy it online. This is great news to me. Anyone else?

Bed Bath & Beyond is returning to physical retail in 2026 by rebranding nearly 100 The Container Store locations into "The Container Store + Bed Bath & Beyond" hybrid stores. Starting in May 2026, these locations will merge home goods with organization products. Further expansion plans include up to 300 new stores over two years, focusing on smaller-format shops.

Welp, I wouldn't mind them returning but considering there are no Container stores where I live it appears it's not going to happen for me.

What I did not like was the clutter. The massive amount of stuff taking up floor space so you couldn't navigate because there was another person in the aisle. What's the name of that other place? Homegoods! I won't shop there for the same reason.

It's corporate musical chairs.

Bed, Bath, and Beyond went bankrupt because they were horribly mismanaged and went for a lot of debt. The brand - not the business as such - was bought out of bankruptcy for $21m. The company that bought it (Beyond) wanted to benefit from the brand name, so changed its name so it all looked seamless.

Meanwhile, the new Bed, Bath, and Beyond are eating up smaller players in the market such as ByeBye Baby, Elfa, Closet Works and Kirkland's Home, switching them to the familiar branding. In other words, we're not getting more choice, the "return" of Bed, Bath, and Beyond gives us less.

The irony is that the business originally failed, in part, because it couldn't compete with online shopping trends. They were then bought out of bankruptcy by an online retailer who is dead set on getting a bricks and mortar footprint. The "partnership" with Container Stores is a bit of a misnomer, since it means Container Store locations are in effect being shrunk.

Man, I'm a gloomy gus sometimes. :D

ME TOO!

We’re all complicit in driving away brick and mortar shops but I sure would rather check things out in person than trust my ability to gauge a product with only 2D images and words to go on.
