Bed sheets

I am living alone at the moment and probably will be for some time. Without the benefit of feminine input I went and bought some new sheets two months ago. They are fitted sheets and pillowcases for a Queen Size Bed. I liked the color and they felt good to the touch, however, I was not sleeping well on these sheets so I went the other day and bought another set. Voila!! That did it. I am now sleeping fine on the new sheets. I would never believe that there would be that much of a difference. Does thread count and all that stuff really make a difference?

Oh yes,it most certainly does! Some sheets are 50/50 cotton/polyester. Stay away from those for sure. Go 100% cotton. Then there is thread count. Generally, the higher the thread count, the higher the price....and the more comfortable the sheet. Sometimes it`s hit or miss, but generally the above is true.

I've bought cheap sheets in the past with a very low thread count, they were so thin, see-through really. I have some sheets that are 60% pima cotton and 40% polyester, and they are super comfortable. I recommend washing and drying with a fabric softener sheet before using any new sheets.

I have no idea what the thread count on these new sheets I brought a month ago.

All I want is lots of stripes on my sheets and pillow case, dont ask cause I dont know why BUT I do sleep very well, averaging 8-10 hours with striped sheets.(white, black, gray with a very thin red stripes) from Walmart.

Am I going to jail in the future????

It may be tied to your childhood. I remember pillows and mattress used to be striped, I think blue and white. The blue looked grey after a while or their may have been white and grey ones.

A few years ago the ‘experts’ changed their advice from the high thread count to the hand of the sheets, i.e. the feel of sheets. I’d decided this too, because the pricey high thread count ones weren’t all that soft. I avoid Egyptian cotton, as nice as they feel, because they kept shrinking. My queen size ones barely fit on a double now.

2 things to remember to get superior bedding.
The highest thread count you can afford........i don't get anything lower than 600 thread count.
100% cotton is a must, my opinion.
If there is polyester content, don't bother.......they will pill.
Nothing worse than sleeping in pilly, scratchy bedding.
I agree with this thought as well.
Quality bedding......Quality sleep.
The high thread count and 100% cotton will last almost forever.

Sorry to hear that Jules.......have never had trouble with shrinkage or hard, crusty, non soft sheets.......could it be your water.
