I haven't been on here for awhile because I was scammed! But, I got it fixed, got my money back and am glad to be back! I didn't know I could get my money back, but I went to the bank, told them I was scammed out of $XXX and they found it and I signed an affidavit and will have money back!

yes let us know what happened without giving us too much personal info/details... was it a phone call? email? something on the computer?

Maybe she clicked on one of the ads. Scammers like attaching viruses, etc. to ads on popular sites.

Yes, it was an ad and as soon as I clicked on it, they took over my pc, and I could not do a thing. I went to Best Buy but they were too expensive for me, so I went to someone local.

I can't remember what exactly it was, so I can't tell you. All I needed to do was turn off my laptop and leave it shut. Until I could pay to get it fixed.

Wow fancicoffee13....Happy you are OK...

Can I ask a question? Why would anyone say this site would be connected....(said by jennie)
I Never had a problem with any Forum.... Scary!!!!

How about letting us know what the scam was, so we don't do what you did?
I clicked on a moving "continue" sign to go forward, it got me in a scam. Above all, do not give money over the phone, someone you have never met, they will hack into everything you got. But, once you do and you think it is paid in full, they will call back and want hundreds more, DON"T DO IT!!!!!

I am glad that you were able to find someone reasonable to fix your machine.
Did you consider having some good software installed to prevent further intrusions?

you can run an ad blocker so you see less ads and won't click on one by accident. I use ublock origin, it's free. I never use the internet without an ad blocker. and it's a good practice to never click ads if you see one, you never know what will happen.

Yes! That was my goal in getting it cleaned up, or part of it. And I paid the person for just that. It lasts for a year and it will alert me when the year is up and so on.

I got an email yesterday supposedly from a neighbor that I literally never hear from. I barely know her. It sounded suspiciously chummy, and asked if I have an Amazon account. I ignored it, checked with the neighbor, and of course it was a scam. Her email had been hacked.

But it doesn't stop there. This morning, the same hackers wrote to me again, supposedly from the same neighbor, telling me a sad story about her niece with liver cancer, who is having a birthday, and she wants to send her a Sephora gift card, but can't get one because she is traveling, could I please get it for her, and she'll reimburse me when she gets back, etc.?

They certainly are creative!

The "Can you hear me?" calls are back on my phone and this time they are leaving a voicemail.
