I have been enjoying the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn greatly and would love to see a really good film or series of it.

Does anyone recommend which is as close as possible to the novels?

''Roots''..... Alex Haley..

Loved that....
I know Pinks.. I always feel terrible saying I ''loved'' Roots, it's a double edged sword... but I first watched the series back in the Mid 70's on TV when I was 21 .. and I came to understand the History of the Black African Slave nation... terrible... but not something we'd ever been taught in school

I watched it years ago, I completely understand how you felt as I did too. You can't forget it.
I don't think I could watch it now, it's too upsetting.

"The Postman" (1997) was close to the book though it did add a few interesting things like a couple of scenes for a cameo by Tom Petty playing a future version of himself.

"The Expanse" (2015-2022) was a TV series that treated the books it was based on as a rough draft and improved upon them significantly. It ranks well among the best television ever made. The only snag is that without the background tropes that it presumes, audiences can get overwhelmed and bored before the story really gets under way.
