Best gifts for seniors

Wondering what are the best gifts you have received as a senior? Looking for ideas for 79 yr old male and 94
yr old female--both who are homebound and live 12 hours away from me so shipping weight is a consideration.

During the winter I enjoy an amaryllis kit or other flowering bulbs suitable for forcing. It’s fun to watch them grow and bloom during the dreary winter months.

They come in a variety of colors and prices.

I always ask my family for Walmart gift cards that I can use over the net or in person at the store. I usually use delivery since I don't drive anymore and I don't want to be in the crowds this time of the year. My daughter has my favorite meal from a fav restaurant delivered to me on my birthday each year. You can get gift cards for any store now and a person can get what they want.

When we all get together at Thanksgiving, we have a "drawing" where the adults all put a note in a hat, for something around $25, and we all draw one name. We all have virtually everything we need, so the Christmas present is just a "formality". The only ones we shop for, anymore, are the younger great grandkids....and this year, we may just give them all some cash and let them buy what they want.

We print out Amazon gift cards to put in with birthday cards to the nephews. The gift cards purchased at stores are easy to detect inside envelopes .. some have not arrived at their destination!

Here's my conversation with my Son via phone:
"Mom, What do you want for Christmas? I want to get you something you really want!"
me: "(laugh) Well, Nothing electronic or high tech! and nothing with a plug!"
"Well?"
me: "I know!" An L.L. Bean heavy duty sleeping bag! I'd love that!"
"What? Why?"
me: "To camp out in! To sleep under the stars!"
"Seriously? Mom, You're not 20 anymore!"
me: "No, nor am I 120!"
I know what you would like! A tablet! I'll get you a tablet!"

Apparently I'm getting a tablet, instead of what I want. Don't know what it does exactly. Isn't it something like an "Etch-O-Sketch?

I was 'gifted' with a tablet 4 years ago. It's still sitting in a box somewhere. Not sure what they are good for .. playing games maybe?
