Wondering what are the best gifts you have received as a senior? Looking for ideas for 79 yr old male and 94
yr old female--both who are homebound and live 12 hours away from me so shipping weight is a consideration.
No idea where you live or the seniors live. But if in the US both Amazon & Walmart deliver so weight should not be a problem.

gift ideas for seniors who don't need anything

yup. Slipper socks or long johns, robes, old people stuff! a music box, chocolate candy, anything soft, warm. tasty!

Here's my conversation with my Son via phone:
"Mom, What do you want for Christmas? I want to get you something you really want!"
me: "(laugh) Well, Nothing electronic or high tech! and nothing with a plug!"
"Well?"
me: "I know!" An L.L. Bean heavy duty sleeping bag! I'd love that!"
"What? Why?"
"To camp out in! To sleep under the stars!"
"Seriously? Mom, You're not 20 anymore!"
"No, nor am I 120!"
I know what you would like! A tablet! I'll get you a tablet!"

Apparently I'm getting a tablet, instead of what I want. Don't know what it does exactly. Isn't it something like an "Etch-O-Sketch?

Before @Bonnie 's posted comment, I thought you'll love the tablet, Gaer!
Now, I don't know! :giggle:

I think it's a bit smaller and lighter, and more easily portable than a laptop, that does lots of things a laptop would do. Nice to read on, or for quick checks on other sites, from bed or anyplace.

I had to check that out Knight ..😁... this is what I got:

... a basket of something is their answer.

We suggest a gift basket full of goodies. They will appreciate the thought you have put into selecting a gift with them in mind. Who knows?

You may wonder what gifts for grandma, grandpa, and other seniors could be put in a basket to create an entire theme. Here are some of the best gift ideas for seniors who don't need anything:

  • Chocolate
  • A basket of personal hygiene products
  • A place-themed basket
  • A specialty coffee, tea, or both in a basket
  • A sugar-free goodies basket
  • An anniversary gift basket
  • An unusual personalized gift

Daughter gave me a tablet last year, but I didn't use it. Hubby's tablet was on the way out, so he's using it. It's a pretty pink :)

I did keep telling my daughter that I did not want, or would use a tablet. I think she was a bit disappointed as she really thought I'd enjoy having one. At least it isn't sitting unused in a drawer somewhere.

My mom always said that she never wanted or would use a tablet either but about 10 years ago, I got her an iPad.
She's told me many many times that that was the best gift that she's ever received. Your results may vary but sometimes
what we think we may not enjoy turns out to be something that we enjoyed so much more than we ever could have known.

My computer "died" and I "gifted" myself a tablet..this is how I'm here 😊

Gift-wise..otherwise.. you get to a "certain" age..you don't need any "chochkees"(any more STUFF) so my kids..say kids.. but their adults)
give me a gift basket of gourmet food..that sometimes I've never heard of..but nice to try. And especially GOOD coffee!

There have been some REALLY GOOD SUGGESTIONS! 👍

How about those word search books (Just about everyone in my apartment building does those)? Or a puzzle, adult coloring books with gel pens, an armchair caddy (for remotes, phones, etc.) or one of those small heating pads that go in the microwave. Slippers are always good but you'd have to know their size.
