Best preacher on television

HAHA. Before I clicked on the title, I said, "Joel Osteen."
My sister says he looks like a rabbit. I sometimes watch him when I need a laugh. (I'm not religious).
Right now, the biggest laugh I get is watching the commercial for his "Inspiration Cube." For only $40.00, you can order it. It's around the size of a tennis ball & it has hours of his "Positive Talk" about how everything's gonna get better, diseases cured, money dropping from the sky.
Perfect timing, eh? ROFLOL.

Have listened to a few in switching channels etc ........ but i see one big similarity ...... no one in that profession needs some huge mansion and sell products / books constantly......... if the money was strictly for outreach etc but as you see the cars and the houses the money corrupts any good they may have started with.

at first some many buy into they are raising funds for their church but as the suits and cars get nicer... or the dresses and jewelry are designer ..... one sees the true motivation is not about preaching

Up to a point I disagree. Some of these folks work really hard and for really long hours and actually do contribute to the causes they say they represent. Why shouldn't those who are passionate about their work and put in the time have an "earthly" reward, too? Especially since many of them come from lower economic families. Now that they are able, why can't they set aside dough for their own families, kids.

Hey, the guy without sin should throw out the first stone. They are not perfect, but unless the pastor is committing fraud, I think they've earned a good salary commensurate with their capabilities.

I just can't listen to a preacher who is telling others to be charitable when he lives in a 10 million dollar home. At least 9 1/5 million of that could have fed a lot of hungry people, put a roof over their heads, and given them some healthcare. If he just wants to be a rich businessman, fine. He should call himself a businessman. But, to me, a preacher teaches by example.

The claim is that the church was inaccessible due to the flooding.

He later opened the church and volunteers entered with food.

I don't believe preachers should set by example. At least not some of them and especially Jim Bakker.

I always enjoyed Billy Graham. Not much on Olsteen, To me the few times I saw him on tv, he was just taking Positive Thinking ideas and expounding on them. To me he did not have any original ideas. Just my opinion of course. I will be glad when I can return to my Episcopal Church. They are only having services for a few at a time. Meanwhile I enjoy their pod casts each week.

The "Miracle Water" is the latest thing. Jim Baker was pushing it in bottles but I saw that old religious gangster Peter Popoff that has been caught years ago by 60 Minutes I believe it was, pushing it in tiny plastic pouches with about a teaspoon of water in each pouch. It is sick that he is allowed to be on TV.

I've also seen "prayer handkerchiefs" offered with contributions; don't pray without one, I guess, or you're not doing it right! I love that term "religious gangster," which should not be confused with the Steve Miller band's "gangster of love." Akin to Michael Jackson's "smooth criminal," does the "religious gangster" plug you, then pray over you? 🤔

Real Story Behind Joel Osteen Divorce: His Cars, Net Worth & Church

Not sure if you were posting this to say he was divorced but here is a quote from this article...
"In what seems to be a perfect relationship, the Osteens have time and time again been rumoured to have gotten a divorce but the truth is, that the marriage which has lasted for more than three decades, seems to be growing stronger and the story remains what it is, a rumour."

As for the money aspect that is ridiculous. That just makes one wonder if they're being taken advantage of. I gave to one church one time and received an email the following week trying to guilt me for not giving again. My regular online church does not do that.

My inner enrichment comes from In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley and is broadcast throughout North Carolina on Sunday mornings via four different channels, each having their own time slot.

Dr. Charles Stanley teaches the Bible with a sensible and friendly presentation. He is a teacher more than a preacher.
In Touch's obvious goal is to enrich our lives, not dollars. At the conclusion of his thirty minute talk, In Touch asks that "You support your local Church".

Anyone remember Oral Roberts? He was on TV in the 50s. His gimmick was to heal people. Later on it was discovered it was all a scam. They had people set up in the audience pretending to be disabled and hobbled up to the stage to be healed.
Then he said the world was going to come to an end and if it didn't he was going to jump out of the tower that was on the university in Oklahoma that he established.
He didn't jump but don't recall what happened to him.
I haven't watched any of them since.

Oral Roberts passed away in 2009, Ruth.

Mr. Osteen should take his congregation for rides in his 4.5 million-dollar Ferrari & have them over for dinner at his mansions.
After all, they bought them.
I'm no genius, but I feel like one by comparison when I think about people who help these charlatans rip them off by playing on their faith and fears.

There is a point when religious teachings become dull and monotonous. That happened about 15 years ago for me. I'd go back and listen once in a while. Nope nothing new.

I used to love watching people throw their crutches across the stage & get up & push their own wheelchairs around, "In Jesus' Name."
Sometimes, there would be a pile of things the healed people would leave on the stage - like bottles of pills, knee braces, etc. Once, he picked up a syringe & held it up for the audience to see - a drug addict cured in 10 seconds! :ROFLMAO:
