ROFLMAO!@Aunt Marg, thanks for the info. I wonder which way he went, up or down. lol
Billy Graham was only worth 25 million. Poor by preacher's standards.....The only one I really liked was Rev. Billy Graham. I never heard anything bad about him. The other ones all seem like entertainers to me.
thank God we don't have preacher channels... I've seen some American ones..no thanks .... as for the ''God one'' you mention , I've never heard or seen itI wonder why we don't have television preachers in Britain. There is just one 'God Channel' and it's imported from America.
I think I remember him! He sat on a throne, didn't he?I use to watch sometimes, not follow Reverend Ike. I remember he would tell the people, if you don't want your money, send it to him. And people did.![]()
He'll be back.Oral Roberts passed away in 2009, Ruth.
He'll be back.![]()
LOL, Yep that's him....
I think it's called TBK....it's quite civilised actually...there is one programme which features a reporter touring Biblical sites in the Holy Land. The presenter is rather irritating but the content is interesting.thank God we don't have preacher channels... Do you remember that video by Phil Collins?
I think it's called 'Everything's Gonna be Alright'....sums up the whole preacher thing very neatly.no I don't think I do....![]()
First and foremost, religion/church is a business. Money has to be made! Got to get tithes and donations. Some of the poorest people would give their last dollar to the church while preachers live high on the hog.I wonder why we don't have television preachers in Britain. There is just one 'God Channel' and it's imported from America.
I remember Jimmy Swaggart too. I went to two of his crusades on the weekend in the late 70's when he was at the Norfolk Virginia Scope Arena.I remember Jimmy Swaggart who could not resist prostitutes.
Anybody check up in the tower? He might still be there!Anyone remember Oral Roberts? He was on TV in the 50s. His gimmick was to heal people. Later on it was discovered it was all a scam. They had people set up in the audience pretending to be disabled and hobbled up to the stage to be healed.
Then he said the world was going to come to an end and if it didn't he was going to jump out of the tower that was on the university in Oklahoma that he established.
He didn't jump but don't recall what happened to him.
I haven't watched any of them since.
I like the minister of one of the churches here in Wichita. He's just a preacher. Not a televangelist. He actually teaches from the bible. I try to give when I can.I think they're all charlatans whose primary interests lie in lining their own pockets.
They guy whose life supposedly inspires them was poorly dressed and homeless. He had not a cent to His name and didn't pass a collection plate after His sermons. Funny how that part of His message got lost.
