I'm glad you got your hat back, but very sad you lost your groceries in the process. No one should take advantage at another's misfortune. I'm a believer in Karma. I hope she visit those who did this to you - and - I believe good will visit you with taking this all in stride.
Except me... I played the Benny Hill music. But I did then apologize. I always thought you were a good sport, and thought you might get a chuckle from my post.
Very sorry for your theft experience, but also applaud your positive attitude! In my stateside area, I read most often about purses being lifted from shopping carts when the cart user ill-advisedly walks away from them for a moment. So many crimes are opportunistic! The really brazen thieves will simply stroll out of the stores, shopping carts full, avoiding the checkouts altogether…
it's sad that nothing can be left for a second without worrying about people snagging it. what kind of people steal from elderly people? sorry to hear it happened timoc but proud of your attitude toward it.
I was once at the store at the meat department. There was a guy standing right there stuffing a roast down the front of his pants. I did not say a thing. If they are that hungry, who am I to judge. If he would have put it back or said sorry, I would have bought it for him. No one should have to go hungry and there are to many that do.
A few neighbours who somehow discovered about my being separated from my groceries, were pressuring me today to report the incident to the police, but try as I did, they could not understand that at my age I just don't want any hassle. When they get another 40 years on their clock, perhaps their thinking will be different...... hopefully.
One thing if you report it by phone, the police will most likely do nothing but write down the few facts. They’d just know that they might need to pay attention to that area in case someone else has issues. I do understand how you feel though and I don’t know what British police systems are like.
