Beware of These Tax Preparer Red Flags

Anyone with a computer, and the ability to do some basic math, can probably easily do their own taxes with software such as H&R Block or TurboTax, etc., for a fraction of what a Preparer will charge. I understand that the IRS even has a free filing system for people with basic filing needs.
Perhaps the Best argument for Not using a "tax preparer" appeared on this forum for weeks, last year, when one of the frequent posters....whose name I will not mention....was moaning for weeks about how her preparer was goofing up her taxes.

Don I know who you are talkin about. Another horror story...a friend of mine who already has a financial nightmare on her hands because of the way her mother's will was written and lack of cooperation from her stepfather, the lawyers and her son. She dropped her paperwork off at an accountant that she has used for years. She says he does taxes for large corporations. He hasn't done her taxes yet, he hasn't returned her calls and an IRS penalty is accruing everyday! I suggested that she go and get her paperwork immediately and that she use H&R Block tax cut Deluxe, which is what I use. I even offered to let her come here and I'd help her since four more people can file using my program. She seems reluctant to want to do it so I'm done with it.
