Big bad cop creep

One of the problems with police departments, which i see, over and over, again is the lack of oversight, and training. Being a police officer is not like being the fry cook at a McDonald's. How this person behaves and acts directly affects the lives of the community. A police officer wields great legal and emotional authority, so the oversight has to be comparable, and it isn't. Cameras are disclosing more and more scenarios like the one above. Quite frankly, cops aren't coming off well. I witnessed something like this years ago. A buddy was coming to visit me. He pulled into the only parking space left on the street. There happened to be a cop car behind him. The flashing blue lights came on and my buddy was told about all kinds of ticket he could get for "weaving, not signaling, "parking illegally". He was told to "move on". After he drove away, the cop parked in that spot. It's a trivial matter, but it shows a disrespect for the community. Cops are human, and we know what screw ups humans can be, so I have no problem with a well educated, well paid, well oversought police force.

Wow, this case took place 13 years ago. This nut case of a cop apparently got away with it, and was later convicted of an actual physical assault against his girlfriend. for which he received "probation," whatever that means.

Police cars in Los Angeles used to have stickers on their vehicles that read: "There's no excuse for domestic violence."
I found that rather amusing because domestic violence among police officers occurs much more frequently than other professions. But, it isn't prosecuted the same as non officers; the charge is usually reduced to a minor charge, like "Disturbing The Peace." Why? Because of a law that says: "Anyone convicted of domestic violence is barred from firearms possession for 10 years or lifetime, depending on the judge's ruling."
Which means if a police officer is convicted of domestic violence, he can't work for at least 10 years, since he can't be a cop without a gun.
