Black Friday anyone?

NOpe... other then running to the grocery store, I'm not shopping for anything.. I never have done the Black Friday thing... it's crazy. Saw some loonies standing in line at ToysRus yesterday at 3pm... not sure when they opened.. maybe midnight? who cares.

Yesterday I was shopping in an ASDA store, they are owned by Walmart.

I was speaking to a cashier who I am friendly with and she told me that
that the stuff they are selling are all end of line or else things that nobody
wants.

Mike.

I believe this is true, one year we bought a TV on black Friday that was defective.

I did the mall shopping on Black Friday as a teenager, and only once as a adult and I regretted it. Never did it again.

I have no shopping to do this xmas anyway. Gave son's family cash for xmas so they pick their own.

No way. Stores were open and shoppers were out at 1130pm when I was driving home from work. It's nuts.

I'm ordering from a pottery company this weekend. They have a sale. That's it.

Went to Walmart today wanting to try a Patti LaBelle Sweet Potato Pie, they were all sold out, and said their warehouse was out also. On the way there I remembered it was black Friday, but it was after 2PM, so the crowds weren't there anymore, lucky for me. But I would have been in and out quickly regardless.

What about Cyber Monday? Aren't there supposed to be big saving by the online stores on Monday?

I hate technology but one order from Duluth Trading for hubby, one for my kid from ToyRUs and oh just a few books from B and N-I've got coupons. As far as going in a store one quick trip to Target for stocking stuffers and the dollar store for gift bags...that's it I'm done. No desire to fight all those people and stand in all those lines.

Nope, everyone I know has been naughty, so no gifts for them. :D Even if I were doing any shopping for gifts, I wouldn't dream of shopping amidst that craziness. I don't ever recall myself going shopping the day after Thanksgiving anyway. If anything, I have waited till the night before Christmas or even after.
Where's your Xmas spirit?
All that whining and complaining!
A person could get the impression it has gone and left the U.S.!
I love writing Xmas cards, wrapping small gifts, and decorating my little place.
Already received my very first gift: The Australian Geographic Art Calendar for 2016,
(middle daughter contributed the kangaroo drawing!) :bigwink:
"Black Friday"?? Vot's dat? :what:

:) There was a time I had the spirit, those days are long, long gone away. Too tiring for one thing. by the time the tree goes up, time to take it down, I now know why some people just leave the decor up year round. :D

But I do wish you peace, happiness and joy to all and wish everyone will have a safe happy season who partakes. I still may get out to a party or drunk, I mean two.

I'm with you, April T. Once kids are gone, it becomes just another chore, and I've already got enough of those without creating a new one.

My husband told me this morning that black Friday broke the record for gun sales in the U.S. in one day. So I googled it real fast and just read a headline. It said there were 185K gun background checks, which has to be done before you can take the gun home. I think that is all that should be said about that since this isn't a gun thread.

That was my experience the couple of times I went by to see if I could purchase it as well. What I have heard from my bestie is it isn't really all that great anyway. Still, I'm intrigued since I'm more of a sweet potato gal than a pumpkin pie person. Though I have to say, Publix' pumpkin pie was as good as the sweet potato when I had to buy that since they were all out of sweet potato. I was told they had a bunch of sweet potato pies and they flew off the shelf as soon as they were put out to the surprise staff; to me too really hmpf. :( Then again :) that was some really good pumpkin pie. :D

Now I want a Patti LaBelle sweet potato pie and I'm going on a quest to find one! If I can't find one in central California I'll take my search to southern CA. Pumpkin is one of my favorite pies but I have heard a lot of times they use sweet potatoes in them in place of pumpkin.

Hmmmm....maybe that's why the pumpkin pie I had from Publix was so good, it really didn't have the taste of a pumpkin pie at all, I wondered if maybe it was mislabeled.

My daughter told me that websites were crashing right and left all weekend long. Even this morning when I tried to get online, the website was s o s l o w that I was above to give up. No, it wasn't a Macy's, Target, Walmart, Best Buy...none of those. It was the Vermont Country Store! I did finally get it done, though. What was so important? Gumby and Pokey! LOL
