Black History Month for 2026

The French, who had their own colonial troops and were desperate for combat manpower, largely ignored this directive and continued to treat the Black soldiers as comrades, decorating many, including members of the 369th Infantry Regiment ("Harlem Hellfighters"), for their bravery and service. "
Kudos and congrats to the French!
There’s nothing better than waking up each day to do the work you love.”
Yes, she's a cutie and that's one of the truest statements.

Minnie M. Cox (1869-1933) graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee with a certificate in teaching — but she is better known for her role as postmaster under three different presidents.
Quite an accomplishment in Mississippi. I know she was tremendously encouraged by Roosevelt!

Edmond Albius, the boy who revolutionized the vanilla industry;
And his technique is still being used today in nearly all commercial vanilla production around the world.

Women of color have been contributing to science and medicine for well over a century.
And that's just what we've been able to discover, which I'm grateful for. There is so much more before that...

If you want to see a great movie, GREEN BOOK . It's a true story about an African-American concert pianist and an Italian-American driver Tony Lip.
What was the AA concert pianist's name? I'm wondering if the title of the film had anything to do with (or incorporated) this:

"The Green Book, originally published from 1936 to 1966, served as a vital travel guide for Black Americans, providing safe places to eat, sleep, and refuel during the era of Jim Crow laws." From Microsoft search.

Thank you. He has music on YouTube. Here's an intimate look at the man, the friendship and clips from the movie. Mahershala Ali (who has a remarkable resemblance to my late Uncle Freddie). plays Dr. Don Shirley. That's enough to make me want to see it. What network or venue did you watch it on?
