I've no idea how they came up with it but I absolutely love that I can order my groceries online and just drive over and they put them in my car and I go home. The cases of water, the 40 lb bag of dog food, the cases of food substitution drinks. All the heavy stuff. And it doesn't take 3 hours out of my day going through the grocery store, loading everything into the cart, taking it out again to check out, putting it back in the cart, pushing the cart to the car just to unload everything again. When I get home I just take out the frozen/refrigerator stuff and wait for my nephews to get the rest. Don't have to get a sitter for my parents for 3-4 hours or worry the entire time I'm at the store. Don't come home to mama elf being upset because daddy elf is looking for the 'woman who is always around' (that's me) and she doesn't know what he's talking about. My niece leaves work and 'drops in' right after I leave to see mama and daddy and before her lunch break is over I'm back from getting the groceries as well as getting her something for lunch for helping. It's a life saver even if I do run into the occasional snag. (how long will it take for 3 people to eat a gallon can of pork n beans? Can you imagine the resulting problems with that?) and have to return something I missed when they loaded it into my car.

Conversely, my wife said that she enjoys grocery shopping because it’s more like a meeting place. She generally runs into at least 1 person she knows at the grocery store. She also said that she likes to see the items she’s buying and what sales the store is having as unadvertised. We donate a lot of stuff to the local food bank and soup kitchen once a month.

It also gets her out of the house, not that she doesn’t get out, but it’s just another thing for her to do. Like me, she likes keeping busy. I doubt that she would consider grocery shopping by phone, but like they say, “Never say never.”

My daughter uses their service all the time, as she has a busy schedule. But I haven't tried it yet. I plan my trips to the store when I have plenty of time to shop at my leisure, so no issues with it taking a couple hours out of my day.

Everything old is new again...when I was a kid (and long before I came along!), the grocery list was called in to our neighborhood grocer on Saturday morning and delivered Saturday afternoon. We could actually go to the store, of course, but Saturday was the day the bread was made and the house got cleaned. And if you didn't have a car, you were limited in what you could get because it was a PITA to lug the groceries home. Sometimes, my mother would send one of us to the store to drop off our list because their phone was always busy!

Wish I could talk DD into doing this. It's a chore that we do either early evening Saturday or around 9-10 on Sunday morning, and we both hate it. Actually, it's the hardest "housework" we do all week. Her objection is that she wants to pick her own produce. Heck, their produce isn't always the best anyway, and we can scoot over to Publix just a mile away and buy our produce there.

BTW, for those who want to shop at Kroger and pick up their groceries, I've noticed that there's almost always a coupon for free pickup.

We have this service at both Walmart and Sam’s Club here, but I have not ever used it. Since I buy mainly fresh unprocessed foods as much as possible, I like to pick out my own produce, too, and go shopping fairly often for just what we will eat in a day or two.
Our local Kroger just closed, and the next closest one is further away than any of the other stores, so I don’t even shop at Kroger anymore, usually at Aldi’s or the Walmart Neighborhood Market, because those are the closest grocery stores.
I totally think that the drive-through pick up is a great idea for groceries, especially foods that are heavy and/or come in containers anyway.
I enjoy going shopping, but if there was a time constraint, or I was unable to walk around in the store and shop, then ordering online and going through the pick up lane would be great.
We do order online from Sam’s and Amazon for quite a few things, and they arrive on our doorstep, and free shipping.

I used their home delivery when I was laid up with the broken ankle recovery...what a blessing it was but every other order had dented cans and boxes in it, not so much the outer boxes they came in...also they substitute an out-of-order item for something else close to it...had to call and report this more than once....overall it was a good service...

Right now I enjoy walking around the store, hubby told me he will take on the task if I get tired of it but who knows one day I might need that service and it’s good that it’s available

here we just get the groceries delivered to the house, and the delivery man will bring them right into the kitchen too..

The delivery prices vary depending on the time of day from zero to around £6.00.. but if we choose a slot that's not busy, for example Tuesday evening between 8pm and 10pm, then it's free delivery!!...so no need to even go to the store to collect.

However we also do have the click and collect availability at our supermarkets too, very handy for those who are still working and can't be home for a delivery, they can just collect on the way home..

All that said, as much as I hate grocery shopping, I prefer to go and buy mine in store, I like to see tha dates and the freshness of the produce for myself..
