Blind man caught driving boat in disability fraud....

We have a TV programme called 'saints and Sinners' about benefit fraud; designed to show how they are caught.
quite entertaining sometimes, but the fiddles some people get up to..

I've seen a show about how private detectives go around checking for insurance companies to see if the person really is hurt.

There are people that will actually jump in front of a car to get a settlement. Some fake falling and getting hurt.

Ive never heard of someone pretending to be blind though.

Over here, (sorry to keep repeating myself); those caught have to pay back all the money, as well as any sentence.

Disability is rampant here, since the job market hit the skids. I have a neighbor that has a neck injury that is on disability. During hunting season he manages to drag his pain pill addicted self off the couch, get on his four wheeler, motor through the woods to his tree stand, climb 10 feet up, bag a deer, haul it onto his vehicle, skin it and butcher it. He does this two or three times a season, yet he is unable to physically perform any kind of job?

In this neck of the woods disability is the new employment, and a lot of these people, like my neighbor are young. That means paying them for the rest of their life, plus after being on disability for two years Medicare benes kick in. Their dependants are also eligible for payment until they are 18..This is a major drain on the Social Security and Medicare systems that are already drained.

I agree..although there are legit cases....most are NOT!

That goes on in everybody's neck of the woods. I can relate similar stories, can't "work", but they sure don't have a problem with doing anything else.

Same here. we have just had a reality TV series on called Benefits Street.
it caused an uproar, and after it was aired, the police moved in and arrested some of the participants for drugs, benefit fraud etc.
i didn't watch it; it would have annoyed me too much!

I'm not saying my neighbor doesn't have some disability, he has had surgeryon vertebrates in his neck. There is nothing wrong with his mind except being addicted now to pain killers, and everything else on his body works, just a bit of a stiff neck. What I wonder is why can't these younger people be trained for something that they could physically do. A lot of them have their most productive years ahead of them, and could surely be trained for something.

There are a lot of disabled and elderly people still working, not just sitting back draining the system.

But, but, but . . . he was legitimately blind because he couldn't see he was going to get caught. Sheesh, have you no compassion???
