Blogs-Do you have any favorites?

This is a post from "Marc and Angel Hack's Life. They are much younger but alot of their blogs hit the target in all age. We don't stop learning just because we age.

"One Question that Will Free You from Judgments and Drama

If you listen closely to your intuition you will always know what is “best” for you, because what is best for you is what is true for you.
Your body has five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. But not to be ignored are the inner senses of your soul: intuition, foresight, and self-trust. The most common differences between happy and unhappy people lie in their use of these inner senses. So many people don’t know anything about them though, while others rely on their inner senses just as they rely on their physical senses, and in fact probably even more. And this makes all the difference in the world.
The senses of your soul help you express your whole truth, and being true to yourself takes work, because it’s so easy to get sidetracked and influenced by others. It’s easy to get caught up in the drama. You have to put in the effort and stand strong every day to honor your own ideas, feelings, intuitions and aspirations.
When you add more of your self into your daily actions and decisions, your sense of self-worth (your TRUE self) blooms. That is the path to a happier, truer, more wholesome YOU.
So today, I challenge you to make this your lifelong motto: “I respectfully do not care.” Say it to anyone who passes judgment on something you strongly believe in or something that makes you who you are. People will inevitable judge you a tsome point anyway, and that’s OK. You affected their life; don’t let them affect yours.

The one question to ask yourself is : Is my thought process about what someone else wants for me actually determing what I am going to do? Am I putting someone else's opinion above my own opinion of myself and my own life path? That is the clear distinction. When the answer is yes to often, you know you need to make a change. Take the opinions of people that matter into consideration, but don't put their opinion above your opinion.

I have absolutely no interests in other people's blogs, and certainly wouldn't inflict one of my own on anyone!

I have read many blogs but can't really name any favourites. I read lots of blogs from volunteers before we went to Uganda. I have many compliments on my Uganda blog, especially from future and new volunteers. They found it very helpful.

There are a zillion types of blogs on a variety of topics. One that I can't remember the name is very funny and done by two elderly ladies and they get a LOT of readers. Very entertaining.

I read a ladies' blog for three years. It was titled, "The Death Madam." She had COPD and she blogged about it. She wrote well and since I had been diagnosed with COPD and had retired because of the disease, I found it interesting. After following her blog for almost three years her doctors told her she needed a lung transplant in order to continue life. She agreed to the trnsplant and went right up to the date of her operation, then backed out. She died a few weeks later. Her husband finished her last chapter.

In 2007 I started blogging. I gave a recap of my own COPD and wrote periodic updates. In between I wrote about 'things that interessted me, things I liked, family history, and current events. I still have a blog but now it is an empty page. If and when I have something to say, I'll write another blog. I am not the writer the 'Death Madam' was although I did participate in a Veterans Administration Study on the subject and had several oportunities to speak to fourth year medical students regarding the diesease and seniors in general. For me blogging was sort of a therapy. But I don't talk to myself. My doctors seem to be in general agreement regarding my condition. I should have been dead years ago.

Lew Penzo great financial blog. Did you know The Motely Fools started out as a blog. I guess those who don't like blogs and would never post one, only read the totally unbiased news like Fox News, MSNBC or CNN. It narrows your information and limits your knowledge to those whom you perceive to be honest and upright because they are paid for the efforts and not controlled by their editors.

I use blogs and YouTube for information to work on an engine, learned how to change the oil in my wife's Mini saving myself $95 for a dealer only charge. Learned about the problems with the lights and what needs to changed to fix them, when it's not the bulb. Use them to learn about an area I'm traveling to and what to do when there. Gutenburg's press was voted the greatest invention of the last 500+ years because it made information more available to more people. Information is power in the business world.

Thanks Cookie! My thoughts exactly. . To those people as the blog says above "I respectfully do not care". I refuse to let their negativity ruin my day. Thank you to those who posted postive thoughts, and I intend to read the links put up. So if you others can find the links to the blogs you mention please post them, if they are still active. I like reading other people's thoughts on a variety of subjects. It is my way of keeping postive and growing as an individual! Ameriscot if you would like to post your blog link here I would love to read it!

The link to my Uganda blog also has the link to my current blog. As with most blogs it's best to read it in order - last post is the newest - with mine go to the archives in the sidebar and start with 2007.

Hey, that's not fair! Teasing with a remark about an entertaining blog and then nothing! Please, please, wrack your brain and tell us who you were thinking of.

And I looked at your blog Annie and it sounded so interesting and so different! And the Sept 2009 post where you tell about the things that happened to you there, your 'mini-portrait' was really interesting! What an experience for you and your husband.

I'll see if I can find it. Quit popular.

Thanks, yes it was quite an experience. We 'inherited' a daughter while there as well. An 18 year old girl we knew through her mother would not have gone to university without help, and she's very bright - 2nd highest scores in her high school. So we co-sponsored her. We didn't realize she'd become like a daughter to us. Got her degree, currently in Scotland for the 3rd time on a temporary work visa. Loves to confuse her colleagues by telling them her parents are white! We love to ask upon meeting her friends which parent she looks the most like! :D

Found it! All I did was google blog two old ladies! :D http://margaretandhelen.com/
They say exactly what they think!

There was a blog I followed quite a few years ago by a fellow expat. She and her husband saved up, quit their jobs and traveled the world for 6 months or a year. She was a fantastic writer and in every post you felt you were right there - you could see, smell, hear, taste everything. No idea if I can find it again.

Just Plain Me, I too read Marc and Angel's blog as well as a number of others. There is a virtual cornucopia of other people's experiences out there on just about anything you want to learn about or learn to do, and its free. The graciousess with which others share their information and know how is pretty spectacular. Just as a example, last summer we discovered kimchi. It became a favorite condiment/side dish but at $9 a pint, we decided that was too much. So enter the internet and blogs. There are lots of people into lacto-fermentation. I had no idea. But now I can make my own kimchi at about $4 for 2 quarts and have continued on learning the art of lacto-fermenation of vegetables, making my own yogurt, kefir, etc. Blogs saved me a lot of trial and error on my own, kept costs down and presented me with a successful outcome right out the gate. From container gardening to how to practice mindfulness, it is all there just a point and a click away.

There are some fantastically helpful and interesting blogs to read! Some people have the impression that all or most blogs are just personal daily ramblings of their lives.

Update here to all the folks who like reading blogs!

I just checked out the blog that Ameriscot linked and it's GREAT! Well written, creative, and outspoken authors. If you're looking for a great way to spend some time then this is a great place to do it! http://margaretandhelen.com

Thanks again Ameriscot, I'll be bookmarking those ladies. They are great!

I just thought you might like a little example of Helen's writing:

"
Really? That’s what you say to someone well into her eighth decade? I’d say I’ve beaten those odds. And you all should see how much pie Margaret eats… and she’s thinner than a silver dollar. She looks like a zipper when she sticks out her tongue. Plus, she’s so tall if she fell down she would be halfway home. I love you honey, but eat a potato chip every now and then."

LOL. I think someone posted about these ladies on FB years ago. Haven't looked at it for quite a while but have now signed up for updates.

Go back and look at their archives. I started reading it back in 2008 during the election. Funny Sarah Palin stuff.

I have just finished reading Ameriscot's blog on "Uganda" and it is very well written, interesting and informative. And the photography is amazing. I like the journals on journaling also . But the two old ladies aren't my cup of tea, mainly because for the most part politics and bad language are a turn off for me. But at the same time that is what makes us different and unique as humans is our ability to think and decide what we each like and don't like. So I am glad you all enjoy them. I to like recipe blogs and my husband is into gardening and woodwork and both kinds have been a blessing to us. Just today he fixed a dear friend of ours a potato basket, she had shown him a picture of, for her birthday Monday. And he is always looking at PinInterest to watch for ideas. I as you know like inspirational and postive blogs. I am so thankful for this site. I feel that for the most part this is the most postive and interesting group on the net!
