Blood and Roses

Got a call from an older cousin today. He's 84, I think. We started talking about funerals, and he told me that his grandmother was embalmed at her home. That's how it was done in the old days. An embalmer came to the house, drained the body of fluid and replaced the fluids, removed some innards, and sewed them up. Then some family members dressed the body, put on some make-up and styled their hair, and laid them in repose on a bed or table.

The interesting thing Brian told me was that the young ladies of the family took his grandma's body fluids out to her rose garden and watered her roses with it. He said this was customary; everybody did it back then‼️

I'm not certain, but it was probably good for the roses.

they are pretty ..
