Blue Collar Conservatives in the UK! Political ploy or serious effort for the people?

Just wondering what is up with this effort as it is part of the political pitch here as we move forward to the next presidential election...

My musings are based upon a BBC report about the UK and a Google search showing much reporting on this trend in the UK. A lot of pandering by our presidential hopefuls to the U.S. Working class goes on daily in our media...

The conservatives are going to dock their yachts and park their private jets for a moment to try and get the rabble to vote for them...:eek:nthego:

I have noticed that presidential panderers are really pushing their working class agenda and support of SS and Medicare as they try to find traction, sounding more like democrats as we roll into the summer...:D

Not familiar with UK brand conservatism, but HERE? That has been a mystery to me why US Blue collar or middle class, and particularly Seniors.. would ever vote for them.

A big difference between them is Repugs use religion to get votes. Not done in the UK as it wouldn't work. Have to at least give them credit here for not being anti-gay and are pro choice. But otherwise, they screw the poor just like the repugs.

Also, I was wondering if the immigrant problem is playing a role in the UK with the displacement of workers. Any thoughts?

Conservatives are anti-immigration which is why they want to hold a vote on getting out of the EU. They don't want to let in EU citizens any more even though many British move to EU countries. Lots of illegals come here as well but these idiots want to get down the total number of immigrants by not allowing as many foreign students to come to university here which brings money to the UK as they pay big fees. How daft is that?!

Not quite as simple as that. The Conservatives who are now in power in the UK, mostly do want to stay in the EU, David Cameron, the Prime Minister wants to get big changes in the EU for Britain so that we can stay in. however if he can't get the changes he wants, he has promised a referendum so that the people here can decide if they want to stay in or come out.I know what you mean Ralphy, the Conservatives here appealed to blue collar workers with aspirations, while the Labour Party failed badly to get their vote. You are wondering if the same thing will happen in the US, I think perhaps it will, and there will be a Republican win at the next election there.

I highly doubt a republican will win next election. All the candidates they have on offer so far seem to have serious brain malfunctions.

Yes Annie I do get that impression, but I also think some of our politicians have the same unbelievably stupid thoughts, but being British are more reserved, and don't actually utter them.

An example of some of the stupid things they say involve rape. One said a woman can't get pregnant when raped as her body knows to block it. Another said a child conceived in rape is a beautiful thing. Then there are fundamentalists. And the climate change deniers. I can recall a UK politician bringing religion into politics.

Grateful that if our politicians have such stupid thoughts that they keep their mouths shut. :D

Because we do not like certain things that political parties do or say, does not mean that they won't win at the elections though, does it?There are presumably enough Rebuplican voters, to get their man into power.President Obama will be on the way out, and of course there could be another Democrat in the White House next time around, but it is not a foregone conclusion surely?

"Have to at least give them credit here for not being anti-gay"

But of course, most of them are ex-public school (in the UK public schools are exactly the opposite, very private and very exclusive, and traditional hotbeds of buggery)!

None of the republicans who have thrown their hat in the ring look like they could win. Could be a shock though and have another idiot like Bush win.

LOL! Of course, I doubt many, if any, of the SNP MPs went to posh schools.
