Nice shots, @-Oy- I fully realize those old engines exhaled coal smoke, but I've always liked to hear the engine's 'chug' and to the see the billowing steam that trails behind.
I don't know if you've ever been near steam trains, but they have their own particular smell as well. I found it quite intoxicating and pleasant when I was young and all the trains in the UK were steam trains. Sitting in the carriage with the small windows open and smelling as well as seeing the combination of steam and smoke from the exhaust meant you got a fully immersive experience. In contrast, the smell of the big diesels was/is awful.
 
I love the way the rain coming down looks in the pictures. I didn't notice it the first time I looked because I was distracted by the bit of blue sky.
