Every boat that travels across the water produces a wake (The wake of any ship or boat consists of the waves created by the hull of the vessel as it moves through the water.) We notice the different kinds that different boats make. Many factors make up that difference. All wakes effect the environment that they occur in.

People leave "wakes" as they move through life. We too have an effect on our environment when we act. We effect the people around us by actions including speaking, writing, our motives and emotions, our capacity for empathy, etc.... So maybe we should learn to

Very true. I have a fondness for water related metaphors comung fm a sailing family, having learned to swim by a year old and spent much of my first decade in or on the water (rivers and Gulf of Mexico). Of refer to our impact on others as ripple effect. Can be positive or negative. We need to think about the effects of our words and actions.
