Bob Newhart Has Died @ 94

Newhart had dry humor, but he was funny in his own style. I remember a comedy skit he did on “The Ed Sullivan Show” one Sunday night when he came out with a stool and holding a phone. He set the stool down and laid the phone on the stool and then pretended to speak to someone on the other end of the line. It was the funniest thing I ever saw up to that time. Even my dad laughed and he wasn’t a really comedy type guy.

My mom liked the show where he played an innkeeper. The place used in the opening, Waybury Inn, is about 90 miles away, so we decided to take a day trip there in the early 1990s. She was disappointed that it didn't look on the inside the way it did on TV.

Rest in Peace.

My favorite episode out of all of his shows was the one from Newhart (1982 to 1990) where he ran an inn. On the last episode at the end, it was all a dream his character Dr. Bob Hartley (the Bob Newhart Show) had. You didn't know what was going on until Suzanne Pleshette woke up along side of him. Perfect ending to the series.
