Bobby Rydell, passes away today.

I was a Bobby Rydell fan after the release of “Wild One.” I even had a license plate on my car “WILD ONE” later in life. I saw Bobby, Frankie and Fabian in concert about 10 years ago. Good show, plenty of life to it. Bobby was the funniest with his stories and impressions.

RIP, Bobby. We love ya’.

I wonder how many teenage girls had a crush on Bobby Rydell .. my big sister certainly did.
Rest In Peace, Bobby, and thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Pinky. do you remember the " Canadian Bobby " ? Bobby Curtola ? From North Bay ? He certainly had a long career with lots of top ten records. JimB.

I liked him and used to love his smile. I was talking with my BFF about him this morning...she didn't know he had passed. I thought she played for him but she didn't. She said they were on the same bill for one concert in N.J. though and she only spoke to him in passing. She also told me he appeared with Ann Margaret in the movie version of Bye Bye Birdie, which I didn't know. She also said the part of Hugo was specifically expanded for him; Hugo had no speaking part in the Broadway production (Wiki confirms this).

Although he grew up in Philadelphia, he must've felt a connection to N.J. He recorded a song called Wildwood Days, released in 1963. I don't remember it though. He was predeceased by his first wife in 2003 and started having serious health issues in 2012 causing him to cancel appearances in Australia. He remarried in 2009. His cause of death is listed as complications from pneumonia. May he R.I.P.

I really cried when I heard Bobby passed away. I was born and raised in the same neighborhood as Bobby,Frankie Avalon and Fabian. Bobby was even married to my sister's classmate Camille Quatrone.I enjoyed Bobby's singing so much.
Sorry you are feeling the loss. I know how it is...a couple of my favorite actors' death brought tears for me..but I'd never met them...Gregory Hines and the young Lee Thompson Young (The Famous Jett Jackson and Rizzoli & Isles). You must've been so proud of them. They were really heartthrobs too back in the day.

I sure remember Bobby Curtola. Them were the "good ole' days" when you could actually understand the words the singers were singing. It didn't matter if it was country, pop or rock 'n roll, it was clear. Today? Don't get me started!

To be honest, I never did care for his "Volare" song. "Kissin Time" was more my speed. I can remember the refrain of that song just like it was yesterday:

"Oh, baby 'cause summertime is kissin' time USA
So treat me right, a-don't-a make-a me fight
The Battle of New Orleans tonight"

In my opinion Burton Cummings had/has the clearest voice in rock music. JimB.
