Both cameras are out of action

I dropped my camcorder and it is in for repairs. The zoom ring was knocked out of round so zooming is no longer smooth.
Grabs and releases, affecting the smooth recording.
This morning I arose early for a possible sunrise photo opportunity. When I turned the camera on - “no memory card” appeared.
Card was there. I have gone through all the easy fixes, none worked.
Do I buy a new card and hope that is the issue. I do not want to buy another camera. Rather cheap camera AU$200?
The camcorder takes stills.
No idea how long the repair to the camcorder is going to take. It has been at the shop for 8 days now, no follow up as yet.

Could you take your camera into the repair please and ask for a diagnostic testing... they used to be free when I was doing photography, but that was then and this is now.

Free is a dirty word these days.
The person would do what I have already done, then would need to do other stuff to find the issue.
So his "labour" would need to be paid for.
I think before I go that far I will buy a new card - 64gb less than $30 - it can be a spare for the camcorder - see if that works.
Does not work? Then maybe I will have a diagnostic done.

Do you have a smartphone? They're not the best but they are something while you wait. I hate waiting on my hobby stuff to arrive. I am ready to go, and I just need this one thing so it will go. But no...waiting, I just had to learn to do other things. Which isn't easy. Good luck mate. :)

I have remained for the most part, old school.
I will not be purchasing a smart phone.
A week or two without engaging my passion. I think I can handle that.
Only hope I do not come across a one off. Like last week when I encountered a Leucistic Magpie. My still camera was with me and shots were taken.

Okay... I was kinda' thinking along the lines that the repair folks might be familiar with the "error"
and just let you know.
Anyway, wishing you the best!
