Both of My Pharmacies Are Out Of Stock On One Of My Meds

I take Risedronate which is the generic for Altevia, a medication to help stave off osteoporosis. I was diagnosed with osteopenia, the precursor to osteoporosis several years ago. Risedronate is also used to treat Paget's disease. My mail order pharmacy from which I usually get my medications is out of stock and sent me a notification to have my doctor prescribe something else. My local pharmacy of choice is also out of stock. The medication would cost more than 3 times as much at the local pharmacy if they had it. Guess I'll see if Walgreens or CVS has it in stock.

Risedronate is taken only once a week and I do have a month's worth left. Have you had trouble getting any of your medications lately?

Not yet

I take a couple BP meds
Had my annual wellness check
Got a year's worth prescription
The pharmacy lady at Walmart gave me 90 day's worth
Told her I want 'em all, now
She asked me three times if I was sure
Told her yes, you may not have them in stock in 90 days

Goodness, I hope you find a good solution, that you feel comfortable with. @OneEyedDiva
I'd been concerned about the possibility of this happening for people, but had not as yet, encountered it myself.

Not here. I get a 90 day free supply from my drug plan. My daughter is a pharmacist and will let me know if she hears anything about my meds.

There was a delay in my last 90 day mail order for glimepiride.

It wasn’t a problem because over the years I’ve developed a small surplus of my maintenance drugs.

If an actual shortage or disruption in the supply chain does develop I won’t be any worse off than millions of others walking around with undiagnosed illness.
