Bought me the Santa Claus razor

I tried an electric one time in my early shaving years, and ended up with a rash of tiny cuts. They healed in a day or maybe two. I can't remember exactly. But I've stuck with the safety razors ever since. I suppose that today electric razors are designed better, or maybe I did something wrong. My parents were at a loss to explain it.

Yeah, me too. Had a big red irritated face. This is 40 years later so product must be better. It says don't press too hard. First shave looked half done. So it's an experiment.

A precocious beard forced me to start shaving at around age 12 and I used a Shick Varsity which was an electric razor marketed at young men. Later I used one of the early Santa Claus electrics. I had a lot of trouble with shaving rash with electrics too so I used blade razors for years switching to throw aways when they became available.

A young lady of my acquaintance (who for some reason enjoyed watching me shave) thought the disposables looked tacky and presented me with a high end blade razor, boars hair brush, and a shaving mug with fancy imported shaving soap. I hated all the tedium involved with keeping all that kit sterile so out the door they went, along with the young lady.

That's when I started wearing a beard so now I only have to shave my neck every few days and disposable razors and spray can soap serve me just fine
