Would humans be more intelligent if they could rid ourselves of the junk?
My vast store of junk seems to be disappearing on its own. But I'm pretty sure I'm not getting any more intelligent...Would humans be more intelligent if they could rid ourselves of the junk?
Oh definitely.Would humans be more intelligent if they could rid ourselves of the junk?
My view is most things are irrelevant to us. It is wise to focus on what actually is. I do try!How do you define junk, in this case?
We are biological entities. What you refer to is part of our being. We would not be the same person if we were to do so.Would humans be more intelligent if they could rid ourselves of the junk?
You have a good point actually. We do process information and make new connections all the time. Yet there is such a huge tide of information these days and I feel I will drown if I concern myself too much. So I escape a lot and quieten my mind.We are biological entities. What you refer to is part of our being. We would not be the same person if we were to do so.
The brain having the capacity to store info is amazing. I think junk is all a matter of relevance & for comparing what we consider useful.
My mother in law used to claim she knew phone numbers for everyone living in Ogden, 100,000 or so people. She just couldn't remember which was which...I call my brain a database. When someone asks me “Do you remember John Smith?” I usually answer, “Hold on. I’m running the name through the database.”
